This is the inaugural hosting of an event of this kind by our club and it will be run after the club’s hosting of the Standard Distance National championships and Junior Sprint Distance National Championship Duathlons on March 11th.

The aim of the children’s duathlon is to encourage young people to get active and take part in this ever-growing sport with the emphasis on FUN! The event will not be timed.

Join hundreds of children taking part in the 247 Letterkenny Children’s Duathlon where they will run, bike & run all within the O’Donnell Park GAA grounds. The course is spectator friendly for supporting family and friends and a fun and relaxed atmosphere is guaranteed.

Important notice regarding Club training
With immediate effect, all club members taking part in club training must be 16 or over- i.e. born in 2001 or earlier. We are working to try and accommodate 14+ but this is currently not in place. We will update you all in due course.

Tuesday Run sessions will now start at 6.30pm and will be road based- Leaving Aura at 6.30pm. This is a trial change. Please ensure to wear your hi-viz- no hi- viz no session!

Club duathlon- Marshals required
We need participants and marshals for our event to be a success. We have 3 events to cater for on the one day. This will be the biggest event the club has held and we need all hands on deck from members to make it a huge success! Any club member not participating on the day will be asked to marshal if available.

We will have our standard distance national championship race as the main event starting at 9:30. We have a junior sprint distance national championship event for 16-19 year old’s at 9:45 and starting from 1pm we will have our kid’s duathlon festival catering for kids from 8-15 years. For the kids races we need to get as many marshals as possible Garda vetted and to complete a child safeguarding course. If we could get around 20 club members to complete these it would help significantly. Non- vetted marshals will most likely be buddied up with someone who is. But we encourage members to become Garda vetted and complete safe guarding courses where possible. Garda vetting forms will be on hand during all club training sessions over the next few weeks for anyone that wishes to become Garda vetted. We will also communicate any information we have about local safeguarding courses over the next few weeks.

Let’s take this opportunity to showcase our club and town and make this an event to remember!

Anyone wishing to marshal the club duathlon event please contact race director Clara Quigley.

Club Membership 2018
As you will be aware it is time to renew your 2018 membership.  This can be done by logging onto the Triathlon Website – http://www.triathlonireland.com/.  The cost of becoming a fully licensed Triathlon Ireland member is €65- along with this you also need to become a member of 24/7 Triathlon club which costs €40 for the year. Following a review of club membership prices the committee have decided to increase the cost of annual club membership for 2018. This increase – €10 for adult members and €5 for junior members- will cover the cost of track sessions and Gartan Summer sessions i.e. members will no longer have to pay €2 weekly for track sessions or the annual €10 cost for shower facilities at Monday Gartan swim sessions.  This will result not only a great saving for club members but also a saving in time and money management for the club committee.

You MUST be a club member to take part in any club training sessions for insurance purposes. Please ensure club membership is updated by 31st January, otherwise you will not be permitted to take part in club training sessions.
