Donegal Atlantic Way Ultra Cycle
What can be said about this amazing event. -A mammoth 555km around the hills of Donegal taking in some of the best scenery in Ireland. Favourable weather conditions meant there was some unreal record breaking times in 2018.  24/7 was very well represented in all categories of the race and those who were not competing were part of the support teams for their fellow club members or were to be found on one of the many climbs shouting on words of encouragement.  Eugene McGettigan took on the event in the solo category.  He finished in a fantastic time of 23:55:55. It is a huge undertaking for one person to complete this grueling event and due to sickness Eugene was unable to complete the event last year, making this even more special. Anyone who met him along the route will know how much this mean to him, with him smiling through the pain of the huge climbs. Well done Eugene on such an amazing achievement.  In the Two Persons team category, 24/7 had two teams. The Viscous & Delicous team made up of club member Colm Corcoran and his business partner Mark Smith finished in a super time of 20:51:55.  Martin Donnelly and Cathal Roarty combined to take part, finishing in a brilliant time of 22:02:43.
In the extremely competitive Four Persons team category Matthew McKinley was part of TEAM AAA, winners of the category smashing the existing record with an incredible time of 17:02:57.  Jason King was part of the Crank Addicts team who also finished in a super time of 17:26:44. Enda Carr was part of the Mid Life Cyclists team which completed the event in 19:37:02. Graham Parker was part of the Pramerica’s Pedal Pushers team which finished in 20:03:55. It was a family affair in The B Team- Mickey Russell, Shaun McDevitt, Fionnuala Larkin and Fionnuala’s husband David completing the event in a brilliant 20:20:59. Alaistair Hetherington and Philip Browne were part of the Donegal Knights team who finished in 20:45:05. In the eight Persons team category Siobhan Coyle was part of the all-female Old Glen Peddlers team finishing in a brilliant 21:49:08. Lourde Walsh was part of the Donegal Oil ladies team who completed the 555km in a brilliant 24:06:15.

Well done to club member Gavin Harris who was part of the successful Donegal Oil team who conquered RAAM. An amazing achievement for everyone involved.

Coast Rosslare Strand Pikeman Triathlon
John Connaghan competed in the Pikeman standard distance triathlon held in Wexford over the weekend. John had a brilliant race finishing in a super 2:16:00 winning the M55-59 category.

Warrior of the Sea, Rosses Point to Strandhill
Three 24/7 members took on the 6k Warrior of the sea Rosses Point to Strandhill swim at the weekend.  Patrick Patton was the first club member to complete the daunting 6k in a superb time of 1:47:59.  Karen Crawford also had a brilliant time of 1:56:36 and Paddy Bond completed the event in 2:11:15. Well done to everyone on what was a tough swim, with the final 400m proving particularly challenging for everyone with even kayaks capsizing!

Glenswilly 5k
Well done to club members who took on the popular Glenswilly 5k last Tuesday. Sean McFadden was the first club member to cross the line in 17:41. Brian Gormley had another fine race finishing in 20:17. Desiree Casburn had a superb PB time of 21:36 on her (adopted) home turf. Aidan McFadden, as consistent as always finished with a brilliant time of 21:54. Rachael Stilvern had another great time of 23:46, her prep for this weekend’s Sheephaven Half going very well. Fiona Temple had a great race finishing in 27:13.
