ANOTHER RACE FILLED WEEKEND FOR MEMBERS OF THE 24/7 TRIATHLON CLUB

There were three separate events attended by club members with the WAAR adventure race attracting big numbers, the Strabane/Lifford half marathon and the Saddle Rock bike race in Carndonagh.

In the WAAR adventure based in Kincasslagh the female members of the club were to the fore with three podium places for Siobhan Gallagher, Anne Robinson and Stephanie Dunleavy.
Paddy McGee not to be out done by his sister in law Anne was best placed of the men with Gavin Crawford having the best run with some good performances by David Harvey, Seamus Morrison and Pat Brady. Stephen Sweeney is showing some early season promise whilst the three try a tri graduates of Stephanie Dunleavy, Cathy Harvey and Martina Mc Daid all demonstrated that they are ready to move on to longer events. There was great support from other club members for an event which is a credit to the local community.

On Sunday Paul Doherty cycled over to Strabane/Lifford and led the crew around the half marathon course on foot. Danny Mooney moving up in distance also raced well and there were good performances from everyone that attended.

Eugene Mcgettigan was third man home in the A3 100k cycle race in Carndonagh also at the weekend. Eugene if continuing this form is likely to be reclassified to the A2 category.
Ciaran McGettigan matched his father finishing third in the under 14 race.

In the club fortnightly time trial there were good performances from Jason King, Martin Donnelly, Siobhan Gallagher and Fin Begley.

The club made the expedition to Gartan on Monday for the first open water swim of the year with perfect water conditions. There was a good turnout ably supervised by resident club swim coach Aidan Callaghan. Open water swimming will continue every Monday for the rest of the Summer.

Paul Doherty is putting the finishing touches to his preparation for the Club Aquathon to be held in Gartan on Friday the 27th of May.
