LETTERKENNY 247 MEMEBER RACING IN SPAIN, CANARIA ISLANDS AND AT HOME OVER THE WEEKEND

Club members took part in three events this weekend with events in Spain and in Limavady. Adam Speer made the journey to Lanzarote for a full Ironman event and raced well in difficult conditions. Jason Black made his debut at half Ironman distance in Barcelona and had a very good debut performance. His two daughters Kate Black and Laura Black also raced well in a iron girl triathlon event in the Catalan capital

Locally a number of members made the relatively short trip to Limavady for the sprint Triathlon organized by the Triangle club. Pride of place goes to Niamh McDaid who won her first age group prize and also to Fiona Mc Daid who got a podium age group placing in here first ever Sprint Triathlon. There were also good performances from Graham Parker , Brendan Meenan, Fiona Mc Daid and Niamh Gibbons.

Upcoming events
The club is holding an Aquathon on Friday starting at 7.30 pm in Gartan. Details are on the Facebook page. There will be three different races. 1 Children’s event, 2 Short Aquathon and 3 standard Aquathon.
It is open to all and involves an open water swim followed by a run. Further details are available on the website and facebook page.
Triathlon Ireland are organizing a team relay event in July with a team consisting of two males and two females with the winners going on to represent Ireland. The club is considering entering a team and selection criteria will be announced later.
Other News
Our open water hosts at Gartan Outdoor centre are building a dedicated open water access area and work has commenced.
Over twenty club members made the trip to Burt to take part in the Jigsaw charity cycle around Inishowen. It was for a good cause and it was good to explore some new routes.
In the local five ks Danny Mooney and Siobhan Gallagher continue to show good form and there were great performances from Peter Mc Bride, Paul Dillon, Paddy Mc Nulty, Keith Fketcher, Clara Quigley, Lisa Dalton, Natasha Kelly Liam Tinney, Damian Mc Goohan , Fin Begley, Stephen Sweeney, Adrian Crawford and Ita McGettigan. Run coach Gavin Crawford used the race to pace some club members looking for Pb’s.
