MAD and Ballyshannon success for 24/7

Lakeside Triathlon Ballyshannon
Seventeen 24/7 members made their way across the Gap for Saturday’s Lakeside sprint triathlon hosted by MSC Tri Club in Ballyshannon. Conditions were perfect on the day resulting in some impressive swim and bike times on the 750m/23.5k/5k route.
John Connaghan was the first club member to finish in a time of 01:14:37.
Natasha Kelly was first club female finishing in 4th place overall winning the F20-29 category in a t

ime of 01:22:03.
Bronagh O’Gara may not have picked up the bragging rights in the O’Gara household on Saturday but she was a prize winner on the day, picking up the 1st F30-29 category in 01:27:25.
Clint Doherty was part of the “New Season” relay team that won the team prize, indeed Clint was the first to cross the finish line on Saturday. Clint completing the 5k run for his team in an impressive 18:35.

some great times from everyone-too many to name individually- full results are listed below. Congrats to everyone who took part.

MAD Adventure Race

The inaugural MAD adventure race also took place on Saturday. There were 2 events on the day- 10 club members taking on the the 59k full course consisting of a 10k run, 1k kayak, 44k cycle and 2.5k trail run. Nine members took on the 29k sprint course consisting of a 5.5k run,1k kayak and 22k cycle.
Club member Peter O’Donnell was 2nd place in the 59k distance event a time of 02:34:48. Gerard McGettigan finished in 02:57:25 picking up first place in the M45+ c

ategory. Fionnuala Larkin and Rachael Stilvern were the only 24/7 ladies to brave the grueling 59k course, Fionnuala picking up 2nd place in 03:26 and Rachael completing her first long endurance event in 4:01:16.

There were also great times from those competing in the 29k event with Shaun Logue first club membe

r over the line in 1:24:53. Fiona Temple was the first club female to finish the sprint course in 1:48. Well done to everyone who took part especially those who were ta

king on their first adventure race.

Swim Fees
The quarterly swim fee for July-September is now due for all participants with no exceptions.

Club training continues as follows:
Monday: Open water swimming@Gartan-6.30pm
Tuesday: Track session- 7.45pm
Wednesday: Swim session- Advanced 7-8pm, Intermediate/ Beginners 8-9pm
Thursday: Brick/TT session 7.00pm- this week is a Brick starting at Foxhall at 7pm sharp

Saturday: Club cycle leaves from Aura at 8am
Saturday: Swim session- 6-7pm (please note prepayment does not cover the cost of Saturday sessions.
