Base2Race HarbourMan Triathlon National Standard Distance Championships
Aidan Callaghan travelled to Wicklow on Sunday to compete in the National Standard Distance Championships. It was a race fought in super hot and tough conditions but Aidan still performed very well finishing in a brilliant time of 2:11:31, picking up 2nd M35-39.

Hazelwood Standard Triathlon
Fresh from his 3rd place podium at Sheephaven Half just one week earlier Sean McFadden was the outright winner of the Hazelwood Standard Triathlon held by Sligo Triathlon Club. Sean had a superb time of 2:13:21 to claim first place.  Patrick McNulty also had a brilliant race finishing with a brilliant time of 2:43:18. Geoff McGillian also travelled to Sligo performing very well crossing the line in 2:51:46.

Donegal Wild Atlantic  Magee 1866 Marathon
Desiree Casburn took on the marathon challenge at the inaugural Donegal Wild Atlantic Magee 1866 Marathon on Sunday. 23 miles of Donegal’s finest hills and Desiree still finished smiling in a superb 4:20:59.

Donegal Wild Atlantic  Magee 1866 Half Marathon
Natasha Kelly was 3rd Female in the half marathon event in a super time of 1:36:45. Congratulations to Natasha on her brilliant half marathon debut on home soil. Cathy Harvey also competed in the half marathon finishing in a brilliant 2:21:49.

Sheephaven Swim
The very popular Sheephaven 3.5km Swim took place on Saturday. Organised by Gartan Open Water Swimmers with the event starting and finishing at the pier in Portnablagh this event always get a brilliant 24/7 crowd.
Jonathan Martin had a brilliant swim finishing in 51:35 picking up the prize for 2nd Male. Siobhan Gallagher was 1st female overall crossing the line in 53:21. Niamh McDaid had a super swim in 1:02:35. Adam Speer is getting plenty of swim practice in ahead of Tallinn, completing the 3.5km in 1:08:36. Damian McGoohan and Paddy Doherty fresh from their Sheephaven Half achievements had very strong swims in 1:13:12 and 1:15:09 respectively. Karol Harvey in his first time racing this distance had a brilliant swim crossing the line in 1:16:26, great to see Karol back in competitive action once again! Alastair Hetherington, another Tallinn bound man, had another great swim of 1:17:48.Lorraine McCreary had a strong swim also finishing in 1:28:42. Amanda Witherow smashed her goal of completing this 3.5km swim with a strong swim finishing in 1:51:27. Well done everyone.

JG Memorial 5K Cranford
Kathyrn McDevitt was 2nd Female in the JG Memorial 5k held in Cranford last Thursday in a time of 23:48. Well done Kathyrn.

Swim Ulster Open Water Championships 2018 1500m
Well done to Niamh McDaid who was 2nd F17-39 in the Swim Ulster Open Water Championships last week. Niamh had a super time of 22:09 in the 1500m event.

Quarterly Swim Payment
The next quarterly swim payment for those that pre-pay is now overdue, please ensure payment is made asap.

Kayak Volunteers for Monday swim sessions
If any club members are available for Kayak cover over the next few weeks please contact Anne Robinson. Having extra water safety allows all swimmers to gain some valuable open water experience.

Gartan Open Water Swimming
Gartan open water swimming sessions take place each Monday @ 6.30pm.  All members are reminded that swimming in the lake on a Monday night is from 6.30pm and you must exit the water no later than 7.30.pm.  All members must sign in and out of the water.  This year there will be a designated swim course set up by Gartan Outdoor and this will be the only area members will be allowed to swim in.  We will have kayak cover in the water and a marshal on the shore.  Wetsuits, and bright swim caps are COMPULSARY and anyone who is not a confident swimmer is urged to use a swim buoy.

Tuesday:  Road based session 6.30pm from Aura
Wednesday: Swim session- Beginners 7-8pm, All others 8-9pm
Thursday:  TT session 7pm sharp@Foxhall
Marshals: Martina McDaid, Barry McLaughlin, John McFadden
Saturday: Club cycle from Aura at 8am
Saturday:  Due to decreasing numbers Sat swim sessions have been cancelled for the Summer months. We hope to resume the session in early September
