Omagh Half Marathon
Saturday saw large numbers of club members head to Omagh to participate in the Omagh Half Marathon.  The conditions were perfect with very little wind and nice blue skies.  First club member home was Sean McFadden in a time of 1:21:17 with Gavin Crawford right on his heels finishing in time of 1:21:18.  Paul Cullen had a great run finishing just behind the Gavin and Sean in a time of 1:22:02.  Next home was Paul McIntyre in a time of 1:25:18 and then the nice quiet Pat Brady crossed the line in a very impressive time of 1:34:00 taking minutes off his last half marathon time, just ahead of Liam Tinney.  Club member Cathal Roarty completed his first ever half marathon on Saturday crossing the line in a time of 1:46:38.

The first lady from the club to cross the line was Niamh Gibbons with a fantastic time of 1:43:57 followed by Fin Begley in a time of 1:44:18.  Martina McDaid was the third club woman home with a time of 1:57:30, followed closely by Anne Robinson.  A full list of results can be found below.  Well done to all club members. 

Omagh 5K
Natasha Kelly was the only club member to compete in the Omagh 5k.  Natasha was third woman home in an impressive time of 19:58

 RunDonegal Women’s 5k Remembering Lisa
A few ladies from the club headed over to Finn Valley to take part in the RunDonegal Women’s 5k on Sunday, this year’s race/wall was held in memory of Lisa McGranaghan, the 43-year-old mother of two from Castlefinn who passed away at the Donegal Hospice in March, 2016. Over 650 ladies took part in the event which was in aid of the Donegal Hospice.  First club member home was junior, Aoibheann O’Grady, in a time of 25:07.  Elaine Gallagher had a fantastic run in a time of 26:23 with Carol McCabe finishing in a time of 30:47, Bridie Devennney finished in 34:19, Caroline McCabe in time of 34:33 and Georgina Dill completed the 5k in a time of 37:46.  Well done to all the ladies.

Foyle Youth Races
Two 24/7 youth members made the trip to Foyle Youth races on Sunday in Eglinton.  A full range of racing was on offer from Foyle Cycling Club.  Daniel McGettian improved on his last outing finishing 6th and very pleased with his performance.  In the u16 race Ciaran McGettigan was in good form and ended the race with a sprint finish to see Ciaran take an excellent 2nd place.

Please note the next quarterly swim fee is now overdue and must be paid at the next swim session.


 Club Training
Please note the brick session will start back this Thursday night at 7pm.  This will consist of a 3km run 15km bike and 3km run.  There are options of a shorter run and bike for members who do not wish to do those distances.  These sessions start out at Foxhall (which is located on road out to Gartan).  Anyone taking part in these session must have a working rear flashing light on your bike and a front light.  Anyone who turns up without working lights will not be able to take part in the sessions.


Club training continues as follows:
Tuesday:  Road based session-6.30pm from Aura -Hi-viz essential- no hi- viz no session!
Wednesday: Swim session- Beginners 7-8pm, All others 8-9pm
Thursday: Brick Session 7pm from Foxhall
Saturday: Club cycle leaves from Aura at 8am
Sunday: Club swim session Saturday at 6pm Additional lane added for 14-16yr old club members- MUST be accompanied by a parent (please note prepayment does not cover Saturday swim).
