ONCE AGAIN MEMBERS TOOK PART IN MULTITUDE OF EVENTS OVER THE WEEKEND

Gaelforce North
Six 24/7 members took on the Gaelforce North challenge in challenging windy conditions on Saturday. The race took competitors from the stark peaks of Glenveagh National Park via Mount Errigal to the sweeping beaches of Bunbeg. Shaun Mc Devitt took on the 45km sprint course- made up of 1k kayaking, 12k of running and 32k of cycling. Despite suffering a puncture on the bike course, Shaun finished in 5th place overall in a time of 2:55:07. Five more members took on the longer 64km event which consisted of 2km of kayaking, 19.5km of running and 45.5km of cycling. Fionnuala Larkin had a brilliant performance on the day and was 3rd female to finish in an impressive 4:21:12. Fiona Temple was next across the line to finish in 5:28:43. Labhaoise Maguire and Bridie Devenney were the 1st relay team to cross the line in 5:28:43. Patrick Kennedy completed the grueling course in a time of 5:36:52. Well done to everyone- a challenging course on any day but the weather Gods made Saturdays event even more grueling.

SSE Airtricity Dublin Half Marathon
Desiree Casburn travelled to the capital for the SSE Airtricity Dublin Half Marathon. Its first year at a new location resulted in some teething problems and a delayed start. Desiree had a brilliant run finishing in
1:53:29, a great time for her preparation for the upcoming Dublin Marathon in just over 4 weeks time.

Disneyland Paris Half Marathon
Cathy Harvey travelled to EuroDisney Paris for the inaugural Disneyland Paris Half Marathon on Sunday. Cathy had a brilliant run finishing in a PB of 1:59:03.

Riverine 10K
John Daly was the first 24/7 member to complete Sunday’s Riverine 10k organised by Lifford AC. John was 3rd M40 in an excellent time of 40:50. Just seconds behind him was Liam Tinney who had a very impressive run with a massive PB for him of 41.11. Natasha Kelly was next with a very impressive 10k time of 43:16. Pat Brady suffered a calf injury during the race but hung on determined not to DNF and completed the race in 50:36. Speedy recovery to Pat!

National Surf Life Saving Championships
Lots of 24/7 members battled hard on Saturday in Rossnowlagh as part of the Donegal Masters team at the National Surf Life Saving championships. They swam, paddled on boards, kayaked, ran for flags, sprint relays in many different closely fought tight races. The Donegal team came away with the national masters title. Well done to club members Karen Crawford, Louise Alcorn, Hugh Gallagher, Leala Curran, Paddy Bond and Sinead Diver.

Congratulations
Congratulations is extended to club member Damian McGoohan and his wife Julie on the birth of their baby girl Clara.

Winter Training
With the return of dark Winter training nights all club members are reminded of the following:
Thursday Night Club runs- High Viz is compulsory for everyone and any additional hi/viz clothing lights etc are encouraged- Be Safe, Be Seen!
Mudguards (wraparound) are also compulsory for Saturdays club cycle.

AGM
The Club’s AGM will be held on Friday 20th of October in the Mulroy room at the Education centre in Saint Conals hospital at 7.30pm. All members welcome.
Nominations are invited for Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, PRO and eight committee members. Please email nominations to club secretary Pauric Kelly (iampaurickelly@yahoo.ie) by Wednesday 18th October. Any motions to be discussed at the AGM must also be sent in by this date.
The club are also seeking new members for our 2018 Race Committees, please also email Pauric if you are interested.

Save the Date
The club’s end of year Awards/Christmas night out will take place on Friday 24th November at Arena 7. 2016 prize winners are asked to return prizes to committee members as soon as possible.

Tuesday: Track session- Track session will recommence 3rd October
Wednesday: Swim session- Advanced 7-8pm, Intermediate/ Beginners 8-9pm
Thursday: Long run leaves Aura 6.30pm
Saturday: Club cycle leaves from Aura at 8am
