Cork and Copenhagen was where 24/7ers chose to do battle last weekend as Ironman season reached it’s peak.

Our club secretary Rachael Stilvern headed to Denmark to take on the Copenhagen Ironman course, her first attempt at the full distance. As ever, Rachael got round the course assisted by her determination and loyal fan club that made the trip. She crossed the finish line in a time of 13:13:54, 16th in her age category. Congratulations Rachel!

Summer 2023 will be remembered for two things, awful weather and Peter O’Donnell finishing on the podium. Sadly and happily, this weekend was no different.

After the 70.3 was moved from Saturday to Sunday, Peter made his way around the course with great speed, finishing in a time of 4:32:25. He was 27th overall and third in his age group.

Mark McGinley was hot on his heels with a time of 4:39:08 to finish in 39th place overall and 4th in his age group.

Not to be outdone, Harriet Henderson finished in 5:38:40, 9th in her age group and 34th female home.

Hugh Trearty took on the full Ironman course. He powered around to cross the finish line in 14:12:34, completing the distance for the first time.

The club offers sincere condolences to the families and friends of the two competitors that tragically passed away at the event.

At the Inishowen Quadrathon Fin Begley was fourth female overall and first in her category. This involved completing four half marathons in four days. Super running!

Yasmina Lazaro decided to fill in for a friend who couldn’t compete in the Montalto 10k. It proved to be a good decision as she was the first female home in a time of 54:48. Well done Yasmina!
