August 7 Update: Tri the Lough, Loughrea, Castlerea, Bothar na Naomh Adventure Race …

o

Podiums were aplenty this weekend with a whole host of top three finishes for 24/7 triathletes in different races and across various age categories.

The majority of club members in action headed to Tri the Lough in Omagh. Mervyn McDowell continued his good form with a 12th place overall finish, fourth in his age category. Mark Gallagher, who is cruising through the summer races as if the rain didn’t exist, crossed in 20th position and a hugely impressive 2nd in his age category. There were also age category podium finishes for Paul Dillon and Suzie Bogan, both in 2nd position.

Suzie, while finishing 2nd in her age category also finished 2nd in her personal battle with her husband, and club alumni, Sammy. The pair took to the course to celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary. Congratulations guys!!! That’s the mark of proper endurance athletes (and Suzie we know you only let him win as an anniversary present!!!).

Martin Donnelly, John Harkin, Terence Quinn, and Kathryn McBrearty were also in action on the course. Martin just missed out on a podium finish in his age category with a fourth place finish. Hugh thanks to Elaine Gallagher for the photos! Full results below.

Shane McNulty has turned in a string of impressive performances, as he prepares for the Iron Man in Finland, and this weekend was no different at the Loughrea Triathlon. With an overall time of 1:08:29, Shane came in 10th overall and 2nd in his age category.

In Castlerea at the John Tully Triathlon Conor McLaughlin completed the short swim course and came home in first spot in his age category. His overall time was 1:19:20.

Noelle Parker tackled the Bothar na Naomh Adventure Course in Leitrim. Judging from the photos she enjoyed it immensely and finished in a time of 1:30:00. Well done Noelle!

A reminder that Triathlon Ireland is running a Junior Summer Camp for ages 7-14 years at the Aura from August 20-21. You can register here: https://www.triathlonireland.com/news/upcoming-summercamps/
