Letterkenny 24/7 Triathlon Club Celebrates 2023 Achievements and Development for the 2024 Season

Letterkenny 24/7 Triathlon Club held its annual Awards and Dinner Night at the Station House Hotel, honouring the remarkable accomplishments of its members during the 2023 season. The event was a resounding success, showcasing the dedication, talent, and spirit of the club’s athletes.

Peter O’Donnell was named the Overall Male Triathlete of the year, and Noelle Parker Overall Female Triathlete of the year. Recognizing their exceptional performance and commitment to the sport. Parker & O’Donnels determination and hard work have set a high standard within the club and serve as an inspiration to fellow athletes.

Club Person of the year was awarded to Rachael Stilvern. Racheal has worked tirelessly over the years to support the club and was recognised for her valuable contributions. Her contributions and commitment to the sport have played a vital role in the growth and development of Letterkenny 24/7 Triathlon Club.

In addition to their achievements, Mervyn McDowell, Harriett Henderson, Shane McNulty, Susie Bogan, Roisin Mc Cafferty, Mark McGinley, and Mark Gallagher were also recognised for their outstanding performances in their respective categories. Their dedication, perseverance, and passion for triathlon are truly commendable.

The Awards and Dinner Night provided an opportunity for club members to come together, celebrate their accomplishments, and strengthen the sense of community within the triathlon club. The event was filled with joy, laughter, and camaraderie, reflecting the spirit of sportsmanship and friendship that defines Letterkenny 24/7 Triathlon Club.

In addition, the club would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to all the race sponsors who made this year’s events possible. The Try a Triathlon event, sponsored by The Aura Leisure Centre, showcased the incredible determination and athleticism of the participants. Sheephaven 70.3, sponsored by Downings Bay Hotel, provided a thrilling and challenging experience for all involved. The Gartan Sprint Triathlon, sponsored by Tinneys Toys, brought together athletes of all levels for a memorable competition.

Looking ahead to the 2024 season, Letterkenny 24/7 Triathlon Club is focused on revitalising local and national participation in training and racing. The club has made significant investments in coaching and development, catering to both senior and junior members. By the end of February 2024, the club aims to have two Level 2 Triathlon coaches, six Level 1 coaches, and six triathlon leaders, all dedicated to the continued growth and success of the club. The active committee, along with these experienced individuals, ensures a positive and thriving environment for all members.
