Splash & Dash

We had a fantastic club event recently at the Aura Leisure Centre, with nearly 50 junior athletes enjoying our final Splash and Dash of the Year. The sun was out, and the atmosphere was fantastic, as our junior athletes put on a great display of speed, skill, and determination in the swimming pool and on the athletics track. At the end of the race, all athletes were presented with a medal and received a goodie bag with lots of treats!  A big thank you to our Junior Committee and to all club marshals who volunteered to help out on the day.

Club Activities

Club members have been competing very well in various races over the last while. The awards cabinet is filling up nicely.

PULSE Sprint 2024 NS

Massive congratulations to Mark Mc Ginley, overall winner of the Pulse Sprint National Series Race at the weekend in Cahore, Co. Wexford . Mark has consistently maintained a strong performance throughout the season, culminating in an overall victory at Pulse.

Mark claimed 1st place with a winning time of 01:06:51. McGinley executed a well-rounded race, emerging from the swim in 00:14:46 and maintaining strong splits on both the bike (00:32:08) and run (00:17:28), which ultimately secured his win.

Well done Mark! Well done also to Barry Mc Eleney on a 2nd place in his age category! and to Mark Gallagher & Paddy on a great days racing. Thanks to Pulse Triathlon Club for another great event.

Sligo Olympic National Series Triathlon 24 NS

A few from the club travelled to Hazelwood in Sligo for the Olympic distance race. Well done to club stalwart, Aidan Callaghan, finishing 3rd overall. I’m told it was too wet for folk to wait about after for pictures !! Thanks to Kathryn for the ones she captured.

IRONMAN WALES 2024

Congratulations to Tommy O’ Brien on completing his first Ironman at IRONMAN Wales in a time of 12:51:30. The two-loop 2.4 mile (3.8 km) swim course starts at the famous North Beach in the seaside town of Tenby. Crazy crowds along the long run up the “zig zag” stairs and into transition make this a once in a lifetime experience for any athlete. The two-loop 112 mile (180.2 km) bike course takes athletes through the scenic countryside of Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. The four-loop 26.2 mile (42.2 km) run course is an “you-have-to-see-it-to-believe-it” kind of experience. The medieval town walls and picturesque beachfront were lined with tens of thousands of spectators that push you all the way to the finish line. Well done Tommy!

Gaelforce Great Fjord Swim Connemara

Siobhan Coyle travelled to Killary Fjord in Connemara for the final race in the Gaelforce Swim Trilogy. Coyle finished in a time of 0:19:58
